BFPO Address - Financial Top Tip for Service Personnel

You must always give your address in the correct BFPO address format and postcode and keep lenders informed every time you move. The Royal Mail has issued special UK postcodes for BFPO numbers that you should use when interacting with UK based websites. This will allow you to order items for BFPO delivery overseas, but will also allow you to maintain your credit history. If a lender is denying you credit simply on account of you having a BFPO address, you may need to tell them to use the BFPO postcode (not the BFPO number from the previous addressing system) when running credit searches on you. All 3 UK credit reference agencies recognise BFPO postcodes.

Some lenders haven’t downloaded the right BFPO annex from Royal Mail, so their IT systems will not be able to recognise BFPO addresses. MOD and industry bodies are working hard to correct this. However, even though some companies may not recognise the new BFPO address format, most lenders have a process in place for dealing with BFPO addresses manually.

Royal British Legion - Care Phones For Service And Ex-Service Personnel

Care phones are personal alarms worn on your wrist or around your neck that, when activated, alert a 24 hour response centre. The Legion can install care phones free of charge to Service and ex- Service personnel.

Also known as a 'personal alarm', a care phone is a telephone-based unit that summons help to your home in an emergency.
The unit is activated by pressing a button worn on your wrist or around your neck. This sends your details to a 24-hour response centre, where a friendly operator will assess the situation and send the emergency services to you if required.

It serves as extra protection in your home to provide reassurance and support,
especially if you:

-Are infirm or disabled-Recently left hospital
-Have been victimised
-Are a victim of burglary
-Live in an area with high crime levels
-Live alone

Veterans With Dogs - Dogs For Military Veterans With Invisible Injuries

Veterans With Dogs' assistance dog programme is the first of its' kind in the UK.

Veterans with Dogs is helping Veterans with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and other mental health conditions, cope better with their symptoms and enabling them to lead more independent lives.

We do this because we care about our Veterans. There are those with physical injuries, and those with injuries less easy to see. We understand the real need to provide specially trained dogs to help mitigate the debilitating effects of mental health difficulties.
Seeing how veterans and their families suffer is a heart-breaking experience, and only strengthens our resolve to do 'something' to help. And that is exactly what we are doing. The results speak for themselves.

The 'PALS' (Partner Animal Life Skills) Programme to train and provide assistance dogs for mental health is just one adjunct to treatment that is having a profound effect on helping Veterans to increase their quality of life and regain independence.
